Focus Concept: Unidisease
- We began with a check-in and review of the month. Thinking about what is making us anxious and how Bowen Family Systems Theory and Friedman's Application may help us manage that anxiety.
- We reviewed a new concept being considered in Bowen Family Systems Theory: Unidisease and considered these notes (Page 1 & Page 2).
- In the afternoon, we focused on a case presentation using this format (pdf & doc). While listening to the presentations we focused on our own responses and learned from the opportunity to observe how others think through their issues.
- Finally, we focused on our own family of origin and each participant had an opportunity to present an issue using their own Family Genograms, (I like this program to do Genograms). It was helpful to remember the importance of Nodal Events when presenting family genograms.
- We began with a check-in and review of the month. Thinking about what is making us anxious and how Bowen Family Systems Theory and Friedman's Application may help us manage that anxiety.

- We reviewed the concept of Societal Emotional Process as defined by the Bowen Center and discussed this blog post, and another overview of this concept found here from Volume 11, Number 2 of Family Systems Forum.
- In the afternoon, we will focused on a case presentation using this format (pdf & doc). While listening to the presentations we will focus on our own responses and learned from the opportunity to observe how others think through their issues.

- We reviewed the concept of Emotional Cutoff defined by the Bowen Center. In the time remaining during the morning session we discussed this blogpost on Emotional Cutoff which has some interesting suggestions if you'd like to work on it in your own family.

- Then we read and discussed these articles: How Birth Order Affects Your Personality, Examining the effects of birth order on personality, Settling the debate on birth order and personality,
- Then in the afternoon, we heard two case presentations using this format (pdf & doc). While listening to the presentations we focused on our own responses and we were given the opportunity to observe how others think through their issues using the theory.

JANUARY 13, 2017 - Seminar Documents & Summary

- We read about Emotional Triangles from the Bowen Center and then we reviewed highlights of Emotional Triangles. These notes are drawn from the following books: Family Therapy in Clinical Practice, Family Evaluation, Generation to Generation, A Failure of Nerve, & Working with Relationship Triangles.

- In the afternoon we'll focused on family of origin by presenting an issue using our own Family Genograms, (I like this program to do Genograms). Each seminar participant had an opportunity to present.
